• To create a multitude of linkages between civil society in Ireland and civil society in Ethiopia with the objective of enhancing the Ethiopian capacity to develop trade and commerce.

• To form commercially sustainable relationships between Ireland and Ethiopia, enabling Ethiopia to improve its chances of trading out of its difficulties.

• To create a political mandate within Ireland to unlock the resistance of our politicians to allocate further resources and create the trading structures which will prioritise the eradication of poverty.

The initial phase is to pilot such a project with a view to replication on a wider international base.  By focusing on one particular country, there will be a significant element of 'cross fertilisation' or encouragement generated among those willing to assist.
