Following on from meetings between Connect Ethiopia’s Brody Sweeney and
Gabre Haile Selassie and the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, the following
potential linkages or trades were identified:
- Ethiopia desperately needs trained Physiotherapists. CE is exploring with Dublin City University the possibility of Senior Physiotherapy students giving a two week course in physiotherapy at Addis Abbaba University.
- Ethiopia is staging the African Athletics championship in 2007. They would
be grateful for assistance on the Event Management side of the event. DCU
will explore how they could help.
- Ethiopia is willing, by way of a trade to give elite Irish Athletes a
two/three week intensive training course at their new high altitude training
camp, with top Ethiopian Athletics coaches.
A further meeting between CE and DCU is due to take place in October to move
this initiative on.
